Nine years ago an article was written by John Humphry explaining how the modern users of language are “raping” our vocabulary due to the slight changes of language such as the use of abbreviation and the removal of hyphens. According to John Humphry the “traditional” English language is dying out due to the laziness of people that cba(sorry:can’t be asked) to use the right punctuation and vocabulary , but I disagree.
I don’t believe this is due to the laziness of the users but due to their creativity, I believe People abbreviate words and “play” With vocabulary in order to show the way they feel and show emotions.
I know this may sound stupid but I do believe that people do this in order to show how they are feeling or show their feelings towards another person, but not only that but I generally think that these changes to language are to save time even if it’s only an “millisecond”, I believe that the removal of the hyphen from fewer than 16’000 words is convenient due to the fact that if you were trying to text someone as quick as possible due to an emergency but needed to add an hyphen that would surley slow down the process.
