Is there a need for libraries.

Within the world today technology has improved exponentially, which leaves resources of the world untouched such as libraries. According to critics and “people” of the 21st century libraries are outdated but I disagree with that, yes you could always go on the internet to read or to gather information but for someone with love for reading and learning the library has the right kind of atmosphere for doing those things. I know this is the modern days but this doesn’t mean that everybody can afford to have internet access and the library is free to access allowing people that don’t have or cant afford internet to access it from the library. The library is considered to be outdated, due to the fact the existence of the internet but i disagree with that statement due to the fact that you may be on the internet reading a piece of information but due to the lack of concentration leave out an important piece of information or forget the information completely, and this is where the library comes in because its not only where you go to read but where you can also go to learn in a controlled environment. There is much more to doing real research than typing a few words into a search engine such as Firefox.  Librarians are trained to do high-level research, which supports people with important jobs such as scientists, doctors, lawyers, professors, writers, government officials, and other important professionals every single day. Without the help of librarians, all of these people would be making decisions without having all of the relevant knowledge they need on their topics, which would in time create more problems due to the lack of information given to the workers with the important jobs.

Even though technology has advanced to the point that we can just “use the internet” only a small fraction of the information that is available on-line is free but when in the library all the information found inside is free which means you are given an infinite amount of information sources. So why don’t people think they are needed? its simple because they believe that you can just search something up and then understand but you cant just look it up, no you must be able to read the information that you can see and when in the library you are given resources that can help you to understand the information.

As some say that libraries are no longer needed and are “outdated” others beg to differ, yes authors such as Alan Gibson, Kate Mosse, David Almond and others continue to support what Libraries stand for and continue to fight against those that don’t understand why they are needed.

After taking the argument that libraries are no longer needed in the consideration, I have come to the conclusion that they are still needed within our society because the library allows people to access all information in sight and have many books, but not only that, the library is also an place where learning can take place due to the calm atmosphere allowing people to be relaxed while learning and that is why Libraries are needed.
